The National Zakat Board (BAZNAS) is increasingly committed to promoting transparency and accountability by forming a strong internal audit unit.

This allows BAZNAS has successfully attained ISO 9001: 2015 certificate and the financial statements always receive unqualified opinion (WTP) from public accountants.

"As zakat has been included in the Masterplan of Islamic Financial Architecture by the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas), we are planning all BAZNAS and LAZ to be supervised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK)," said Chairman of BAZNAS Prof. Dr. Bambang Sudibyo, MBA, CA, in the opening of BAZNAS National Working Meeting (Rakernas) 2018 in Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday (21/3).

In addition, Bambang said that BAZNAS also commit to alleviating poverty amongst the people of Indonesia with a target of 280 thousand people per year, through the distribution and utilization of zakat that is measurable, directed and empowered.

In the distribution of this zakat, Bambang said, besides referring to sharia, BAZNAS, and LAZ also develop poverty alleviation programs that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"Almost all the goals in SDGs can be targeted with various programs of zakat distribution," said Bambang.

This former Minister of National Education revealed BAZNAS management period 2015-2020 has determined to continue inflaming the management of zakat in all aspects, including collection, finance and distribution, and utilization.

"We call this zakat-raising passion throughout Indonesia, as the awakening of zakat. We call this period as the era of the Awakening of Zakat. Various efforts are performed for the awakening by building a new paradigm in campaigning zakat, managing finances and in various approaches of zakat distribution" said Bambang.
