Komodo island is known as one of the world's heritage centre and among the new 7 wonders of the world. Located in the NTT (Nusa Tenggara Timur) province, Komodo Island has become tourism area attracting both international and domestic tourists.

BAZNAS has a plan to launch its ZCD (Zakat-based Community Development) program in Komodo village located in the National Komodo Park. Regarding this, a team led directly by Puskas BAZNAS director, Irfan Syauqi Beik, made a survey and an assessment using Village Zakat Index (IDZ - Indeks Desa Zakat) on Friday, 30 March 2018. Irfan was accompanied by M Soleh Nurzaman (Puskas Deputy Director on Research and Study), and two junior researchers, i.e. Khairunnajah and Noviyanti. Representatives from BAZNAS of NTT Province and BAZNAS of West Manggarai regency were also joining the Puskas delegates.

The team met Komodo Village Head, Haji Aksan, and all of his staffs. A number of local prominent figures and ulama (preachers) were attending the meeting. The team was identifying and elaborating all dimensions of IDZ and made a very fruitful discussion with the Village Head and other participants. It is expected that this ZCD program will be launched in the first semester of this year.

After the meeting, Village Head requested Puskas director to deliver khutbah during Friday pray. In his khutbah, Irfan emphasized the importance of being optimistic in this life and life changes can only be made with strong intention and efforts. Irfan highlighted the success story of Korean Saemaul Undong as the program to transform South Korea into the new world developed country by developing village. The meeting was finally concluded with very warm lunch.
