PUSKASBAZNAS.COM, BONE – BAZNAS Center of Strategic Studies (PUSKAS BAZNAS) conducted the Zakat Village Index (IDZ) survey in Manera Village, Bone District, South Sulawesi Province on Thursday (16/08).

Accompanied by two leaders of BAZNAS Bone District, the survey was done to assess the village for the purpose of zakat distribution program implementation, which in this case is Zakat Community Development (ZCD) program.

Local figures from various backgrounds who are well acquainted with the condition of the village in terms of economy, health, education, social, and da'wah were the resource persons of the survey. The informants stated that most of the villagers were farmers and fishermen, though the products could not be categorized as featured product yet. However, the village has potential on the production of boneless dried fish.

More than half houses in the village have adequate sanitation and access for clean water. Although the health center is under construction, the health services are already underway. In this village, there is also a well-equipped elementary school, and surprisingly about half of the villagers are high school graduates or more. Community activities also run well in spite of limited facilities such as sport fields. In terms of religious aspect, though all villagers are Muslims and most of them can read Quran, the participation in religious activities is still low.
