The National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) built a Field Hospital in Orong Kopang Hamlet, Medane Village, Tanjung District, North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB). This Field Hospital serves the medical and psychological needs of earthquake victims who have not been able to return to normal life.

The field hospital has a variety of medical facilities including Emergency Unit (ER), medical and psychology consultation, pregnancy and childbirth control, growth control, breastfeeding, circumcision, minor surgery, elderly programs to hospitalization. In addition, doctors and other medical teams from the field hospital will also go around to visit evacuation points that still need health services.

North Lombok Regent, Najmul Ahyar conveyed the importance of the establishment of the BAZNAS Field Hospital because currently the community still needs medical help.

"This BAZNAS Field Hospital has a treatment room, a medical record room and it is ast. This assistance is very meaningful for the people of North Lombok," he said after visiting the BAZNAS Field Hospital and temporary shelter for refugees.

Baznas responded quickly to the earthquake in Lombok by deploying more than 50 organic personnel and volunteers to help victims through various programs. Until now, 7 thousand people have benefited from various BAZNAS programs. Vice-Chairman of BAZNAS, Dr. Zainulbahar Noor said that the presence of the Baznas Field Hospital is currently very urgent because of the increasing medical needs while the existing facilities are not functioning optimally because of the earthquake.

"Thousands of victims are currently vulnerable to disease due to conditions that are still emergency, so BAZNAS present to help the government provide the best health services for earthquake victims," he said.

He said, the mandate of the people towards the zakat, infaq and alms funds that were paid to BAZNAS is to benefit as much as possible for the victims, who because of their condition now included in the category of mustahik (the group entitled to receive zakat). BAZNAS Medical Services Coordinator for the Lombok Earthquake, Dr. Putro Muhammad said, the field hospital is needed by victims, especially for vulnerable people who have the risk of disease, such as infants and toddlers, pregnant and lactating mothers as well as the elderly.

These high-risk victims need adequate care in these emergency conditions, therefore we prepare inpatient rooms to reduce their risk of contracting the disease,"he said.

In establishing health services for these victims, BAZNAS coordinates with local health centers so that the handling of the victims can be handled effectively and efficiently. "The operation of the BAZNAS Field Hospital is coordinated with the local health center, the service we provide aims to support the revitalization of the Health Center at Sub-District Level (Puskesmas) that have not functioned as usual," he said.

BAZNAS has assisted the victims of the earthquake in West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) since July 29, 2018 after the island was rocked by a 6.4 SR earthquake. Assistance in the form of charity and empowerment, ranging from evacuation and rescue, public kitchens, public toilets, temporary shelters for refugees, health services, education services in the form of the establishment of 3 units of emergency schools, the construction of emergency mosques and economic programs in the form of the establishment of 2 units of emergency market.

In addition, BAZNAS also held slaughter of sacrificial animals in various evacuee locations, one of them was in Orongkopang Village because these evacuees need nutritional intake so that they would not easily contract the disease in the midst of limited evacuee conditions.
