The Secretary of Puskas BAZNAS Yunus Afandi, explained there are two dimensions comprising the National Zakat Index (IZN), namely macro dimensions and micro dimensions. In macro dimension, there are three variables included in the dimension, namely regulation, government support, and national databases which include the official zakat institutions, mustahik and muzakki. Whereas, the micro dimension consists of institutional and zakat impact variables. "Institutions will be assessed based on its collection, management, distribution and reporting of zakat. Meanwhile for zakat impact, there are three variables to consider, namely material and spiritual, education and health, and independence," explained Yunus. This was conveyed during training event on the use of IZN application and 2019 Zakat Impact Assessment conducted at Hotel Meranti, Gorontalo City. This activity was held by Puskas BAZNAS in collaboration with BAZNAS Gorontalo Province (07/10/2019).

In 2017 and 2018, the measurement of IZN was carried out by Puskas BAZNAS manually by visiting each regional BAZNAS. However, in 2019 it is targeted that all zakat institutions can carry out the assessments independently by conducting inputing the IZN data via application developed by Puskas BAZNAS. the results of this IZN assessment will be published annually. With this IZN, the public can evaluate whether there are improvements or declines in the performance of zakat management in Indonesia.
