The SOZECOM Institute visited the Sekolah Cendekia BAZNAS (SCB) on Tuesday (7/23) to study directly the zakat collection and distribution programs that have been implemented by BAZNAS, especially in the field of education.

The visit was attended by H. E. Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR (Governor of Sokoto State of Nigeria), H.E. Hakeem Toyin Bologun (Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Indonesia), Alh. Saidu Umar, Alh. Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, Prof. Bashir Garba, Hon. Abdulssamad Dasuki, Dr. Balarabe Shehu Kakale, Mr. Beatrice Archibong (Minister / Embassy of Nigeria), accompanied by Randi Swandaru (Head of BAZNAS Utilization Division) and Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, Ph.D (Director of Puskas BAZNAS).

The Governor of Sokoto, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal expressed his appreciation for zakat management in education carried out at the Sekolah Cendekia BAZNAS. SOZECOM has just started a Zakat management improvement program in Sokoto state. Therefore, it is very necessary to learn from other countries such as Indonesia.

"Alhamdulillah, I really appreciate all forms of implementation, especially what I have seen in this school, you can see how good the organizing system is, the quality of teachers is very good, to answer the big challenges to distribute zakat to less fortunate children by giving them scholarships," he explained.

Hasbi, as a Director of Puskas BAZNAS hopes that with SOZECOM's visit to BAZNAS programs in the fields of education, health and others, it can encourage the improvement of Zakat management in Africa.

"How BAZNAS build a good educational institution for disadvantaged students, hopefully it can become a model to apply Zakat for education in Nigeria, especially Sokoto," he said.

Hasbi added, on Sunday (21/7) the Chair of BAZNAS, Bambang Sudibyo, along with Chairman SOZECOM, Alh. Muhammad Lawal Maidoki has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
