BANJAR – The National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) Banjar City held a mass circumcision activity on Thursday (16/2) in the Hall of Mayor. In this activity, there were 35 participants who joined the event for free. The participants were male students from poor families.
Chairman of BAZNAS Banjar, Abdul Kohar said that the mass circumcision event was a BAZNAS Banjar program in collaboration with Banjar City Local Government, in a series of activities regarding Banjar City 14th anniversary in 2017. Therefore, the participants were free of charge. Not only were served for free circumcision, even the mass circumcision participants also received a prize package provided by Baznas and the Local Government of Banjar City.
"In this program, the priority participants of circumcision are poor people," he said to the journalist.
The mass circumcision participants were Banjar residents from four districts. The committees brought in the medical personnel from the Health Department of Banjar City as the circumcision executor.
"We expect this program can help the poor people to actuate religious requirements without feeling burdened by the cost. Hopefully next year we can hold similar events and this collaboration is keep being maintained," he said.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Banjar Ade Uu Sukaesih appreciated the mass circumcision activity and the distribution of capital aid for the Gharim, which was initiated by Baznas Banjar, in a series of activities regarding Banjar City 14th anniversary in 2017. He expected the similar activity continues to run.
"This is a concrete manifestation of the role of Baznas Banjar to the City and its people, especially for the families of the poor," he said.
