Puskas BAZNAS alongside the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenag RI) recently held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Wednesday, February 18 2020 at the Best Western Premiere The Hive Hotel, Cawang. The FGD mainly discussed matters regarding Zakaah Management Organizations (ZMO) compliance towards shariah and regulations. According to Mr. Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, Ph.D the Director of Puskas BAZNAS, this research is a form of a living document and will continue to develop in the future.

The Index of Regulatory and Shariah Compliance for ZMO (IKSOPZ) is an index created by Puskas BAZNAS and Kemenag RI which consists of several indicators that refer to past studies and the current needs and situation of modern day ZMO’s. According to Mrs. Dewi Tri W from Kemenag, the output of this research is to understand how far current regulations support the program innovations of zakaah institutions. It is expected that the outcome of this research will be used as reference of law-makers for further revisions towards the Indonesian Constitution regarding zakaah.

The FGD was participated by zakaah institutions as stakeholders regarding this matter. Those who attended the FGD were Mr. Wildhan Dewayana from LAZ IZI, Mr. Agus Nafi from LAZ Al-Azhar, and Mr. Nur Fadhlan from LAZISNU. All stakeholders who attended the FGD contributed by expressing their concerns and perspectives towards the current formation of this index, “Perspectives and contributions from all stakeholders is very crucial towards the development of this Index due to the fact that these stakeholders will also be the actors who directly implement the index once it has been completed,” says Mr. Abdul Aziz Yahya Saoqi, the Head of Strategic Research 1 at Puskas BAZNAS. All input from the various stakeholders were used as further evaluation for the development of the index. Future FGD’s with other stakeholders will be held in the near future to discuss the index’s development from other perspectives.
