Publication and Networking Agenda (PJA-2020) aims at shaping the international landscape of zakat research. It is thus engaged with academics, such as higher institutions, to target the university students who are doing research as their final year projects. The primary outcome of PJA-2020 is expected to be numerous and relevant researches on zakat are conducted so that can drive the betterment of zakat administration.    

This week on 14/04/2020, PJA-2020 was held at the national level by way online. It was conducted with University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) students. The programme began with a talk from Puskas Deputy Director addressing several issues that are relevant for academics, notably in zakat studies. Following the talk, the Director of Zakat and Waqf Programme of UMJ delivered his speech upon the importance of industry-academics engagement as a way to produce relevant human resources, particularly for zakat institutions.  

The PJA-2020 was then carried out after the opening talks. The number of participants, not only the students but also the lecturers of UMJ, attended the online discussion. The presenter who is the head of the Publication and Networking division of Puskas, first introduced the position of Puskas in BAZNAS. The presentation covered the researches that have been published by Puskas, and those are currently performed. Several questions were addressed including the significance of zakat institutions in reporting their financial activities and the method to measure so.

Briefly, the PJA-2020 with UMJ students is expected to influence the students, to conduct researches on zakat that drive the improvement of zakat management.
