BAZNAS Scholarship Institution held a training to “Become Zakat Literacy Ambassadors” in conjunction with appreciation and a meeting of all Beasiswa Cendekia BAZNAS (BCB), Friday (12/2). The current BCB program has benefited 479 students in 83 partner campuses throughout Indonesia. BCB helps students who come from duafa families in the form of tuition assistance, montly allowances, and centralized coaching, as well as coaching with mentors on their respective campuses. The BCB program has three scholarship categories, namely BCB Aktivis (organization/volunteerism), BCB Studentpreneur (entrepreneurship) and BCB Teladan (championship achievement/work).

This briefing was held online at the zoom and was attended by 380 participants. This briefing presented the Commissioner of BAZNAS RI, Saidah Sakwan, MA who gave a speech, BAZNAS RI Acting Director of Distribution and Utilization Wahyu T.T Kuncahyo, Head of LBB Sri Nurhidayah who gave an introduction, and Head of Distribution Division of BAZNAS RI, Ahmad Fikri who was the main speaker.

Sri Nurhidayah in giving an introduction to the event, equipping each participant about integrity, education and anti-corruption. Sri invited the scholarship participants to always be together in kindness.

Saidah Sakwan welcomed and encouraged the participants in her speech with the theme “Being Knowledgeable and Beneficial for Humanity”, also inviting the participants to be grateful and make the best of scholarships they received.

“This scholarship is an ideal. Scholarships can deliver a nobody to be a useful person. And, rest assured, we are part of these ideals”, Saidah said in his speech.

Ahmad Fikri gave a comprehensive explanation of the ambassador for zakat literacy. Zakat ambassadors are representatives who will be attached to each scholarship participant. It is not only about the good knowledge of the participants in understanding zakat, but also closely related to exemplary or being a good example for the surrounding environment. Such is the function of the ambassador of zakat.

In addition to debriefing to become zakat literacy ambassadors, an appreciation was also held for outstanding scholarship participants. During the one semester scholarship trip, there were 216 achievement from 116 students on 54 campuses, 590 organizations/volunteers from 237 students on 72 campuses, and 112 businesses from 102 students on 53 campuses. These achievements have given birth to several names with the highest scores, as a manifestation of the participants seriousness in developing themselves according to their respective potential.

Chosen with the highest score in the field of achievement, namely Chyntia Silvi Yanti Hasan (Brawijaya University), Yuliana (IAIN Purwokerto), and Yelta Okta Dina (Diponegoro University). Elected with the highest score in the field of organization/vulnerability, namely Alya Anjelina Sembiring (IAIN Padangsidempuan), Muhamad Alim (Udayana University), and Yogi Aldiaz Zakariyah (IAIN Ponorogo). Selected the best three with the highest score in the field of entrepreneurship, namely Diyana Rahmatika Utami (Padang State University), Irnawan Syaputra (Riau University), and Ulfa Anisatus Solikhah (UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta).

The provisioning went on smoothly and was full of enthusiasm. Hopefully the scholarship that enters the second semester will continue to encourage each participant to continue to develop along with ongoing coaching.
