On Tuesday, February 8 2022, The Executive Secretary of World Zakat and Waqf Forum (WZWF), Dr. Irfan Syauqi Beik, visited the Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII) campus. The visit was the first step towards building a partnership between UIII and WZWF. One of the potential partnerships discussed during the visit was the future location of the WZWF, which is planned to be located at UIII. The meeting was carried out at smart meeting room located in the Faculty Building A.

This meeting was attended by The Rector of UIII, Prof. Komaruddin Hidayat and his colleagues along with the The Executive Secretary of WZWF, Dr. Irfan Syauqi Beik and the Head of the WZWF Research and Development Unit, Dr. Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal. The meeting started with a brief explanation introducing the WZWF which was presented by Dr. Hasbi. This was followed by a presentation from, Prof. Komaruddin on the vision and mission of UIII.

The University Secretary, Chaider S. Bamualim, Ph.D., emphasized that this collaboration should be beneficial for both parties. Furthermore, The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Dian Masyita, Ph.D., added that the WZWF and UIII partnership holds great potential for collaborative researches which align with the three essential pillars of value accepted worldwide which UIII upholds. These values are academic research, culture, and religion.

Additionally, Dr. Irfan views this collaboration could also familiarize UIII to the global community, especially towards the members of WZWF that has been serving as the global platform advocating the global awareness of zakat.

After the meeting was adjourned, the Rector of UIII gave a tour of the campus. During the tour, several rooms were showed as potential locations for the WZWF Headquarters. The WZWF hopes that the establishment of a physical headquarter office can be realized by 2026.
