On Monday (30/05/2022), The National Board of Zakat Republic of Indonesia (BAZNAS RI) held a kick-off meeting on the 2022 National Zakat Index and the Zakat Literacy Index Measurement. The meeting was attended by all of the Zakat Management Organizations, starting from BAZNAS Province, BAZNAS Regency/City, and LAZ all over Indonesia.

This schedule was attended by the Chairman of BAZNAS RI, Prof. Dr KH. Noor Achmad, The Commissioner of BAZNAS RI, Dr. Zainulbahar Noor, M. Sc., and Director of Research and Development BAZNAS RI, Dr. Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal. The meeting was live using the Zoom Meeting platform and attended by more than 390 participants.

The Chairman of BAZNAS RI, Prof. Dr. KH. Noor Achmad said that the measurement activities IZN and ILZ in 2022 are prime measuring instruments regarding the performance of zakat. "I hope that all Zakat Management Organizations could participate in the measurement to provide the database for the zakat performance in Indonesia," said Noor Ahmad in his welcoming remarks.

The Commissioner of BAZNAS RI, Dr Zainulbahar Noor, added that the zakat collection potential in Indonesia reaches Rp327 trillion. Therefore, the performance of national collection through big data is essential to be captured. "The zakat database needs to be integrated to improve collection and zakat management through our core principals, namely Aman Syari, Aman Regulasi, Aman NKRI," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of Research and Development of BAZNAS, Dr Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, said that implementing the measurement of IZN and ILZ in 2022 is a mandate of Renstra BAZNAS RI regarding measurements, evaluation, and BAZNAS performance reporting. The IZN and ILZ measurement results in 2022 will be used for the BAZNAS Award assessment basis. "Based on IZN 2021, the average score for all LPZ is 0.59, which is classified as "Slightly Good". So, The national average for IZN 2022 needs to be improved to reach "Good" and " Very Good" classification," he said.

Hopefully, the participation of IZN and ILZ's measurement could increase from the previous year's participants. So that the measurement result could produce the robust and representative database for the zakat evaluation material.
