On Monday-Tuesday, February 6-7, 2024, BAZNAS RI received a visit from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan to conduct a study on Asnaf Zakat Fakir, Miskin, and Al-Gharimin: A Study of KES in Brunei Darussalam. The main purpose of this visit was to learn about the activities of BAZNAS RI regarding: 1. Approaches in overcoming the problem of increasing the demand for zakat assistance, especially asnaf fakir miskin and al-gharimin. 2. The various zakat distributions that are effective and innovative for poverty alleviation.

The activity was attended directly by Prof. Dr. KH. Noor Achmad, MA as the chairman of BAZNAS RI, Mokhamad Mahdum, SE, MIDEc, Ak, CA, CPA, CWM as the vice chairman of BAZNAS RI, all BAZNAS RI leaders, all BAZNAS RI deputies, director of agency collection, director of utilization and UPZ and CSR services, director of distribution, director of strengthening distribution and national utilization, director of ZIS-DSKL planning, head of general bureau and protocol, head of public communication bureau and head of coordination, cooperation and harmonization bureau. Meanwhile, Brunei Darussalam was delegated by Dr. Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal as the rector of UNISSA, Prof Madya Dr Hajah Rose binti Abdullah as the dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr Hajah Masnooraini binti Haji Mohiddin, Dr Muhammad Zaki bin Haji Zaini, and Dr Kamaru Salam bin Yusof.

The Brunei Darussalam delegation also visited BAZNAS programs to learn about the zakat management process firsthand. The results of this meeting are expected to be a valuable platform for strengthening inter-institutional cooperation, improving efficiency, and expanding the positive impact that can be achieved in community empowerment. In addition, it is hoped that this meeting can be a venue for sharing best practices, capacity building, and the establishment of a stronger network.
