JAKARTA – In terms of doing a measurement of zakat impact nationally program, PUSKAS BAZNAS sends its representatives to survey BAZNAS offices in city level. The cities visited are samples of western, central, and eastern part of Indonesia whose BAZNAS have productive zakat program(s). Furthermore, the representatives of PUSKAS BAZNAS also build connections to BAZNAS officers in city level.

Started on the third week of October, PUSKAS BAZNAS visited several cities in Java and Bali. Sukabumi, Bandung, Sumedang, Bantul and Tabanan were the first five cities to do the survey. Cities in Central Java are now being surveyed too. Next week, PUSKAS BAZNAS will go farther to Sumatera, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Nusa Tenggara.

The measurement of zakat impact is expected to give an empirical evidence of zakat impact in national level. Using CIBEST model, the impact measured is not only materially, but also spiritually. It is in accordance with the essence of zakat itself which is one of the five pillars of Islam. 

Sukabumi Region

Having tagline “Building Civilizations of Zakat, Zakat Build Civilizations”, Sukabumi proves its commitment in creating the miniature of sharia economics application in Indonesia (SMESI). It can be seen from the first time PUSKAS BAZNAS visit the city to conduct a briefing of the measurement of zakat impact nationally program on Tuesday (18/10). The briefing was held in Gedung 1000, a building built by the IDR 1000 infaq of millions people of Sukabumi in four years.

Six supervisors of BUMI (Bangkit Usaha Mandiri Sukabumi) and the other four of PDZ (Pesanggrahan Domba Zakat) programs attended the briefing session. Those programs are two of BAZNAS Sukabumi programs that using zakat fund productively. Therefore, recipients of the programs use the fund to do productive things to improve their income and wealth. In addition to the fund, the recipients also receive both business knowledge training (Bina Rupiah) and spiritual assistance (Bina Ruhiyah).

One of the BUMI program recipients visited by PUSKAS BAZNAS was Mrs. Ratna. She was one of the initial recipients joined the program in 2011. At that time, she only sold some pastries made in her house as ordered, but now she is able to rent a place to run a small grocery store.

The exit program of BUMI is the establishment of Sharia Savings and Credits Cooperatives (KSPS) in sub-district (kecamatan) level. The KSPS is a joined program of BAZNAS Sukabumi and Baitul Mal Muamalat. In addition to serving the saving and loans, KSPS offers its members to display their wares in its office. It also serves as a counter for the society to give zakat and infaq. Using an IT system, all KSPSs in Sukabumi are connected so that the data of zakat and infaq are integrated. (ADA)
