PUSKASBAZNAS.COM, Muara Enim – Center of Strategic Studies (Puskas) BAZNAS together with a national zakat institution (LAZNas) Al Azhar conducted the Zakat Village Index (IDZ) survey in Pelakat village, Muara Enim District, South Sumatera Province on Thursday (19/04). Accompanied by supervisor of Indonesia Gemilang program from LAZNas Al Azhar, Faridun Nidhom, a Puskas BAZNAS junior researcher, Amelya, did the survey to monitor the village in terms of zakat distribution program implementation, which in this case is Indonesia Gemilang program.

Pelakat is one of the villages receiving Indonesia Gemilang program. Before LAZNas Al Azhar came to this village on 2013, the village did not have access to electricity. Therefore, together with a state-owned enterprises, Bukit Asam, LAZNas Al Azhar encouraged the community to build a micro hydro power plant. In addition, LAZNAS Al Azhar also performed community assistance by placing a dai in their midst and forming a community group of their own called Saung Ilmu. Saung Ilmu is a community platform to share ideas and to develop community programs. The villagers are encouraged to make their own programs based on their needs. Therefore, although the Indonesia Gemilang program has ended in 2016, the villagers continue to develop themselves to date.
