Qatar Charity appreciates the development and progress of the BAZNAS Scholar School (Sekolah Cendekia BAZNAS) regarding the implementation of formal education system of Junior High School (SMP) and the students'  achivements

Bogor - It was prominent in the Qatar Charity Foundation delegation's visit to BAZNAS Scholar School (SCB), Ahbaabullah Center, Cemplang Village, Cibungbulang District, Bogor Regency, West Java, On Saturday (4/27/2018).

"Alhamdulillah, BAZNAS Scholar School (Sekolah Cendekia BAZNAS) received appreciation from Qatar Charity. We hope the students' achievements of SCB Junior High School increase the trust of muzaki to pay zakat to BAZNAS, "said commissioner of BAZNAS, Ir. Nana Mintarti, MP.

Also present were former Chairman of BAZNAS, Prof. Dr. KH. Didin Hafidhuddin; Director of Distribution BAZNAS, Mohd. Nasir Tajang; and Head of Scholarship Institute of BAZNAS (LBB), Sri Nurhidayah.

The delegation was led by the Country Director of Qatar Charity Indonesia (QCI), Karam Zeinhom Hassan Aly, with 6 QCI officials and 10 delegates who flew straight from Doha, Qatar. Besides to review the BAZNAS Scholar School at the Ahbaabullah Center complex, Qatar Charity also provided 190 boxes of groceries for orphans around the school and 285 educational packages for SCB students and around the school.

Nana Mintarti expressed her gratitude for the success of SCB students winning at various local and national tournaments and competitions.

She also expressed her gratitude to QCI, hoping that the cooperation of the parties will increase, so that it can shift many mustahik (recipient of zakat) into muzaki (payer of zakat).

SCB is a free boarding school dedicated to orphans in Indonesia.

"The school stands on the support of the philanthropists (muhsinin) of Qatar Charity Indonesia who has established a magnificent building here, Siti Hajar Sidja'i Foundation as wakif, and the National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) who supports for the school operations," said Nana.

As of 2017/2018, from July 2017 to April 2018, there were 95 direct beneficiaries (65 boys and 30 girls) and 3,043 indirect beneficiaries. The indirect beneficiaries are the SCB activities with local communities, including monthly teacher training, free medical treatment, scholarships for local communities, motivational training for students, Agro-edu-eco tourism, recycling and other programs.

"The schools attempt to not merely benefit the students but also committ to give benefits towards community around the school. We call it School Social Responsibility," Nana said.

She explained that besides teaching and learning, the school activities also cover class observation, mosque environmental awareness, public libraries, English camp, scientific activities, and extra-curricular activities such as swimming, archery, scouting, petanque, pencak silat (Indonesian martial arts), roleplay, marawis, saman dance, and arumba music.

"To train self-reliance, students are given learning facilities of Cendekia Entrepreneur Club with Maryam cendekia bread, chocolate, and yoghurt as the featured product," said Nana.

Special for Agro-edu-eco tourism, it is a learning facility for elementary school-age children to study about agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, healthy and clean lifestyle and entrepreneurship. Nana added

Currently the school is trying to organize and complete these facilities. "We are also in effort to establish Zakat Awakening as our means to inflame the spirit of zakat," she said.

Nana explained the achievements of SCB include, meyabet 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze at Pakubumi Open International Silat Championship 2, 3rd winner of House Orator, 16 major Indonesian Petanque Open, Indonesian national essay competition finalist by Good News From Indonesia.

Next, the top 15 of the National Smart Science Intelligent 2017 Contest; won 2 gold, 2 silver, 5 bronze on Jampang Silat Competition; 2nd champion of Jabodetabek Islamic Poet 2018, 1st Winner of Scout Competition in the category of quiz contest for girls in Bogor Regency, 1st Winner of Marawis SMANGOOD Fastival in Bogor Regency in 2017.

"We has been entrusted to manage this school, we will try our best in the management and provide benefits as much as possible for Muslims by making this school success and give benefits to the community around the schools as well as to develop the education in Indonesia, "said Nana.

QCI Country Director Karam Zeinhom Hassan Aly encourages SCB students to keep improving the achievements on various levels.

"We hope the students can improve their achievements so that this school can be in the top ten in Indonesia," he said.

The Director of Distribution BAZNAS, Mohd. Nasir Tajang also explained, SCB students managed to record achievements in the field of sports, art, speech, general knowledge and so forth.

He mentioned several things such as winning a national silat tournament in Yogyakarta and Bandung, winning the speech contest held by Secretariat General of DPR (Parliament), scouting competition, papers, islamic competition, academic quiz and others.

The event was enlivened with marawis, saman dance, arumba music and arts by the students of SMP Cendekia BAZNAS. The activity was ended with groceries distribution and free health care for the poor by the Rumah Sehat BAZNAS (RSB) team.

Nasir explained, in collaboration with BAZNAS in 2015, the muhsinin (donors) of QCI built Ahbaabullah Center Complex in Cemplang Village, Bogor Regency, on a 1.7 hectare waqf land from Siti Hajar Sudja'i Foundation.

BAZNAS presents as a manager as well as zakat distributor for the education of orphans and poors in SMP Cendekia BAZNAS, Ahbaabullah Center.

Currently, the number of students reach 95. It consists of 65 boys and 30 girls who come from certain areas of Java, South Sumatra, Kepulauan Meranti, Riau; and Alor Island, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

SMP Cendekia BAZNAS develops the integration curriculum of school and boarding. The boarding school curriculum, besides strengthening the spiritual, it also trains students' skills such as sewing and others.

"Participation of Qatar Charity as an international nonprofit and non-government organization in donating gives a big impact towards the realization of people welfare and development of Islamic world in various countries," said Nasir.

Indonesia as the largest Muslim-majority country in the world, is concerned to develop cooperation with various international organizations and institutions, whether in the field of religion, education, finance, humanity and culture, He added.

"Multilateral collaboration that is built inter-government and inter-community play a role in encouraging the development of a nation because it is done based on the principle of expediency and big commitment in empowering people," said Nasir
