Surabaya (14/12) - The Center of Strategic Studies the National Board of Zakat (Puskas BAZNAS) in collaboration with the Department Islamic Economic and Finance Bank Indonesia (DEKS BI) launched the Indonesia Zakat Outlook 2019 at the International Seminar on the Role of Islamic Social Finance in Supporting the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which are a series of events at the Indonesia Shari'a Economic Festival (ISEF) 2018 in Surabaya. The book was launchedby Chairman of BAZNAS Prof. Bambang Sudibyo, accompanied by BAZNAS commissioner drh. Emmy Hamidiyah and Ir. Nana Mintarti, Director of DEKS Bank Indonesia Dr. Dadang Muljawan and Director of Puskas BAZNAS Dr. Irfan Syauqi Beik. The event was attended by around 500 participants consisting of representatives of provincial and district / city BAZNAS, academician as well aspractitioners from the zakat institution.
The Indonesia zakat outlook is anannual publication of Puskas BAZNAS to report the condition of national zakat and the projection of national zakat management in the following year. This book is available in two languages, namely in Bahasa and English. In his remarks, Prof. Bambang Sudibyo, Chairman of BAZNAS explained that the potential of zakat must still be optimized, among others by supporting regulations, increasing institutional effectiveness, for example by utilizing digital technology and the urgency of treating zakat as amandatory activity alike tax treatment.
The launching of the Indonesian Zakat Outlook 2019 continued with a discussion of the book delivered by Dr. Irfan Syauqi Beik. The Indonesia Zakat Outlook not only discusses about zakat projections in 2019, but also describes studies in the field of zakat which were completed in 2018 such as Had Kifayah, Apostasy Index and Risk Zakat Management.
"The condition of national zakat in 2018 has increased compared with the previous year. This is illustrated by the increase in the value of the National Zakat Index from 0.48 in 2017 to 0.51 in 2018. This value is still in a fairly good performance. Besides that, the impact of zakat on mustahik welfare is also in the good category which can be seen from the national value of the BAZNAS Welfare Index, which is 0.76 "added the Director of the Center of Strategic Studies BAZNAS.
BAZNAS Commissioner, drh. Emmy Hamidiyah, also added that the factors such as institutions and legality, collection, distribution and utilization, finance, SOPs and information systems and human resources must be carefully considered to optimize the development of national zakat. She also hoped that the launch of the Indonesian Zakat Outlook 2019 would be a comprehensive source of national zakat information for the entire community.
