Padang, West Sumatera - The Syekh Ahmad Khatib Al Minangkabawi Grand Mosque was the site of a pivotal event on November 21, 2024, focusing on the evaluation of the 2023 IZN (National Zakat Index) and KDZ (Zakat Impact Assessment) results. This gathering aimed to strengthen zakat management throughout West Sumatra for the 2024-2025 period by evaluating the 2023 IZN.

Dr. H. Buchari, M.Ag., Chairman of BAZNAS West Sumatra Province, inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of zakat in community empowerment and poverty alleviation. M. Hasbi Zaenal, Ph.D., Director of ZIS-DSKL Research and Development, joined the proceedings online, providing valuable insights into the national perspective of zakat management.

A key highlight of the event was the provision of conceptual frameworks, calculation results, and assessments of the 2023 IZN and KDZ surveys. Technical guidance was given to participants who required assistance in understanding and completing these crucial assessments. The IZN and KDZ surveys are instrumental in measuring the effectiveness of zakat management across various regions. They provide critical data that informs strategies for improvement and optimization. The results presented at the event indicated that West Sumatra has made commendable progress, with over half of the province actively participating in the surveys.

This event signifies a proactive step towards enhancing zakat management in West Sumatra. By facilitating knowledge sharing, providing technical support, and analyzing survey results, BAZNAS have the commitment to maximizing the impact of zakat on the lives of those in need. The insights gained from this evaluation will undoubtedly contribute to the development of more robust and impactful zakat programs in the years to come.

The event ended with a group photo as a symbol of solidarity between BAZNAS in West Sumatera, attended by 35 representatives from district/city BAZNAS in West Sumatera.
