Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has expressed its appreciation for the achievements and performance of the National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) in 2024 and has encouraged the attainment of zakat, infak, and sedekah (ZIS) and other religious social funds (DSKL) collection targets for 2025.

This statement was delivered by the Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of DPR RI, H. Abdul Wachid, while reading the recommendations resulting from the Hearing Meeting (RDP) with BAZNAS and the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) at the Nusantara II Building of DPR RI, Senayan Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday (February 5, 2025). The meeting was attended by the Chairman of Commission VIII of DPR RI, H. Marwan Dasopang, the Chairman of BAZNAS, Prof. Dr. KH. Noor Achmad, MA, as well as representatives from various factions within Commission VIII of DPR RI.

"Commission VIII of DPR RI appreciates the achievements and performance targets set for 2024 and further urges the National Amil Zakat Agency to meet the target for ZIS-DSKL collection in 2025," stated Abdul Wachid.

He further emphasized that BAZNAS must develop a projected national collection plan for 2025, amounting to IDR 13,335,447,759,280 within the balance sheet and IDR 38,728,180,331,998 outside the balance sheet, resulting in a total projected national collection of IDR 50,063,628,901,276.

In addition to encouraging the achievement of collection targets, Abdul Wachid also urged BAZNAS to ensure the implementation of its 2025 priority programs, so that their benefits could be effectively felt by those in need.

"BAZNAS' priority programs for 2025 include strengthening healthcare services in 34 provinces, BAZNAS microfinance, zakat villages (kampung zakat), the santripreneur program, BAZNAS scholarships, the ZChicken program, ZMart, proper housing initiatives, the eradication of extreme poverty and stunting, as well as the BAZNAS Disaster Response Unit (BAZNAS Tanggap Bencana),” he elaborated.

Furthermore, Abdul Wachid emphasized the necessity for BAZNAS to map out steps and strategies to optimize zakat potential, ensuring that ZIS-DSKL collection targets are met to support priority programs and humanitarian activities in other countries.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Commission VIII DPR RI, H. Marwan Dasopang, also commended the BAZNAS distribution programs aimed at assisting the underprivileged. He stated that the programs implemented by BAZNAS have been well-targeted and have effectively reached mustahik.

"In various regencies, BAZNAS' performance has become evident, and the majority of its initiatives have directly benefited the impoverished communities. Based on the reports we have received, BAZNAS programs have reached more than one million impoverished individuals, thereby contributing to the reduction of poverty rates in our country," he remarked.

On this occasion, the Chairman of BAZNAS, Prof. Dr. KH. Noor Achmad, MA, expressed his gratitude that BAZNAS successfully met its ZIS-DSKL collection targets for 2024, enabling the funds to benefit the wider community, particularly those in the lower-income segments.

"Alhamdulillah, BAZNAS' achievements in 2024 have been acknowledged by Commission VIII DPR RI, and they have pledged to support BAZNAS' initiatives for 2025," stated Kiai Noor.

"Moreover, a significant resolution was reached today: the recognition that amil zakat personnel within BAZNAS are state-recognized zakat administrators. This signifies the state’s formal involvement in reinforcing zakat, infak, and sedekah mechanisms for poverty alleviation and the welfare of the ummah," he added.

The meeting was also attended by BAZNAS leaders, including Hj. Saidah Sakwan, Prof. Dr. H. Zainulbahar Noor, SE, H. Rizaludin Kurniawan, M.Si, National Coordination Division Leader KH Acmad Sudrajat, Lc, MA, CFRM, Deputy I H. Arifin Purwakananta, Technology and Information Division Leader Prof. Ir. H. M. Nadratuzzaman, M.S, M.Sc, Ph.D, Human Resources, Finance, and General Affairs Division Leader Col. Caj. (Ret.) Nur Chamdani, Deputy II Dr. H.M. Imdadun Rahmat, M.Si, Secretary of BAZNAS Subhan Cholid, Lc, MA, as well as other BAZNAS officials.
