JAKARTA – Series of Interviews with Key Figures for the Legacy BAZNAS Book

The series began on Friday, July 14th, 2025, with an interview with Aries Muftie, one of the founding fathers of BAZNAS. He shared the story behind the establishment of BAZNAS, the challenges faced during its early years, and the big ideas that inspired the creation of Indonesia’s national zakat institution.

On Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, the DIPK team interviewed Prof. Dr. Bambang Sudibyo, M.B.A., C.A., who served as Chairman of BAZNAS from 2015 to 2020. He highlighted the major transformations during his tenure, including the establishment of the Strategic Studies Center, strengthening governance systems, and introducing innovations that elevated BAZNAS into a modern zakat institution.

The series continued on Monday, August 4th, 2025, with Prof. Dr. K.H. Didin Hafidhuddin, M.Sc., who led BAZNAS from 2001 to 2015. Prof. Didin shared his experiences from the early days of national zakat management, his strategies for public outreach, and the institutional consolidation that laid the foundation for BAZNAS’ growth in the years to come.

Through these interviews, PUSKAS BAZNAS is not only documenting history but also building a comprehensive narrative of BAZNAS’ journey from one leadership era to the next. The Legacy BAZNAS book is expected to serve as a valuable reference for zakat practitioners, academics, and future leaders in understanding the institution’s role as Indonesia’s national zakat authority, continuously evolving and contributing to the welfare of the ummah.
