Road to 9th ICONZ: Series 1 Explores Strengthening Zakat Policy and Innovation

Jakarta, October 2, 2025 – The "Road to 9th ICONZ: Series 1" successfully launched the journey towards the 9th International Conference on Zakat, focusing on "Strengthening Zakat Policy and Innovation for Community Welfare." The online event, organized by BAZNAS with UIN Syarif Hidayatullah and supported by IAEI, INDEF, and KNEKS, brought together key experts and practitioners.

The event was opened by the Chairman of BAZNAS RI, Prof. Dr. KH. Noor Achmad, MA, following welcome remarks from Prof. (H.C.) Dr. Zainulbahar Noor, S.E., M.Sc. In his speech, Prof. Zainulbahar emphasized, “Zakat is not merely a ritual worship, but a transformative force to reduce inequality, alleviate poverty, and empower communities.”

The panel discussion, featuring speakers from government and academia, covered strengthening zakat's impact through better data integration, program effectiveness, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. Key challenges like non-integrated data and mistargeted programs were addressed, aiming to foster policy breakthroughs for a more prosperous society.

This event marks the start of a series leading up to the 9th ICONZ on December 9-11, 2025. The series aims to build momentum and gather insights for the main conference, contributing to the global movement to strengthen zakat's role.
