BAZNAS Disaster Response (BTB) together with community of people who are in Ciliwung River held Cleaning Ciliwung event on Sunday (26/2). This event was held in commemoration of the National Waste Concern Day (HPSN) which falls on February 21.

This time, the Cleaning Ciliwung activities were centered in RW 14, Kemiri Muka, Beji, Depok covering RT 2 in the area of Kebogerang rapids and RT 5 below the Juanda bridge area. Head of RW 14, Edi Nurhadiyanto, said that the activity was very helpful to show concern for the environment, which is in this case is the Ciliwung River.

"I also hope that in the future Kebogerang rafting can be one of the tourist attractions in Depok," said Edi.

In this event, 57 participants of the action managed to collect 80 bags of garbage that were then taken by DKP Kota Depok.

Meanwhile, Agus Wahid, manager of PRB BTB said that BTB is very concerned about the activities of community-based disaster risk reduction like this event. Communities that took parts in the Cleaning Ciliwung activities were Ciliwung Depok Community (KCD), Ciliwung Lover Society (Mat Peci), and the Joint Secretariat of Ciliwung. In this event, personnels deployed by BAZNAS Disaster Response consists of three inflatable boats and water rescue teams as well as two Hilux cars.

The Cleaning Ciliwung event was also attended by DKP Depok City, the District Military Commander Beji, Headman of Kemiri Muka village, Chairman of LPM Kemiri Muka, Heads of RWs in the Kemiri Muka village, Youths and PKK.

“Events like this are very important, in addition to be an effort in disaster risk reduction, it is also aimed to strengthen the resilience of people in disaster-prone areas,” said Ahmad Fikri, Director of BTB who was also directly involved in the location.
