SINGKAWANG – The National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) Singkawang held an event to socialize the management of zakat, infaq and shadaqah at the Singkawang Mayor's Office Hall on Wednesday (19/4).
The event was attended by dozens of participants consisting of the officials of mosques, surau, government agencies, as well as civil servant and non-civil servant, and representatives of educational institutions (from elementary-high school level) and Islamic organizations.
"The existence of BAZNAS in Singkawang City has proven a very proud, trustworthy and settle performance. BAZNAS Singkawang also has helped the city government in improving the economic quality of the community," said Plh Assistant for Development and Welfare Economy, Apriyanto, representing Singkawang Mayor Awang Ishak when opening the event.
The aid is channeled by zakat payers to BAZNAS and is forwarded to parties who deserve to receive it in various programs.
"A lot of useful programs are given by BAZNAS, among others are house renovation, zakat door to door for the poor, aid programs for converts, fardhu kifayah training, scholarships, orphanages, tahfidz house and amil. For the efforts that have been done by BAZNAS Singkawang, we are very grateful since those help the government in poverty alleviation," he said.
He also conveyed to the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) to immediately set aside the income obtained and distributed it to the collection unit of zakat (UPZ) in each agency or directly to BAZNAS Singkawang Office.
According to him, some of the possessed property shoulde be set aside in terms of charity. "Insya Allah, your intention and sincerity will be replied with the reward by God," he concluded.
