[Jakarta, Indonesia] - Friday, February 28, 2025, the National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS), along with Amil Zakat Institutions (LAZ) from various regions, participated in the Public Expose: Zakat Regency/City Index (IKKZ), which was conducted online via the Zoom Meeting platform. The event was opened with remarks by the Director of National ZIS-DSKL Studies and Development, Mr. Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, Ph.D., followed by a presentation by Mrs. Dita Anggraini, S.E.
This event was attended by more than 70 participants from various BAZNAS and LAZ at the Regency/City level, who enthusiastically listened to the presentation on the importance of IKKZ as a measurement tool for the effectiveness of zakat management in the regions.
The Zakat Regency/City Index was developed to provide an objective mapping of various factors influencing zakat management, including government support, performance achievements, and public trust levels. This index aims to serve as a foundation for policy improvements and strategies to enhance zakat effectiveness in eradicating poverty and improving community welfare.
The main dimensions of the Zakat Regency/City Index include:
1. Government Support – Assessing regulations, budgets, and facilities provided by local governments.
2. Zakat Management Achievements/Performance – Measuring operational effectiveness, service coverage, and zakat fund distribution.
3. Public Trust – Evaluating the level of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of the public towards zakat institutions.

As a follow-up to this presentation, several strategic recommendations were proposed, including:
• Adopting the Zakat Regency/City Index results as an indicator of regional development performance based on zakat management.
• Encouraging collaboration between zakat institutions, community organizations, and the private sector in implementing IKKZ-based policies.
• Conducting pilot implementation of this index in selected regencies/cities to optimize zakat management effectiveness at the regional level.
With this index, it is expected that zakat management at the Regency/City level will be more optimal, transparent, and capable of improving the welfare of the community evenly throughout Indonesia.
