The National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) RI distributed 2,200 portions of Hidangan Berkah Ramadhan (Blessed Ramadan Meals) for sahur to flood victims in several areas of Jakarta on Wednesday (March 5, 2025).

This assistance targeted several flood-affected areas in Jakarta, including Pengadegan, Binawan, Jatinegara, Manggarai, Kebon Pala, and Kebon Manggis.

BAZNAS RI’s Commissioner of Distribution and Utilization, Saidah Sakwan, M.A., stated that this aid is a quick response and a form of BAZNAS' responsibility toward communities facing difficulties, such as the flood disaster in Jakarta.

“As an institution committed to improving the welfare of the people, BAZNAS remains present to assist those affected by disasters. We hope that this sahur meal distribution will help the victims continue observing their fast despite the challenging circumstances,” Saidah said in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (March 5, 2025).

She added that the food distribution was carried out by BAZNAS volunteer teams, who went directly to the affected locations to ensure that every aid package reached those in need.

“We prepared nutritious and ready-to-eat meals so that the victims could consume them immediately without the hassle of cooking, given the limited facilities caused by the flooding,” she added.

Saidah explained that the distribution of sahur meals is part of BAZNAS' efforts to assist communities affected by natural disasters, particularly the floods that have hit the capital city in recent days.

“We are also coordinating with various parties to ensure that aid distribution runs smoothly and reaches the right people,” Saidah stated.

Furthermore, she expressed hope that BAZNAS' initiatives would help alleviate the burden of residents struggling due to persistent floodwaters in several areas.

Saidah emphasized that BAZNAS RI will continue to play an active role in various humanitarian efforts to support those in need, including flood victims. She also encouraged the public to take part in acts of solidarity by donating through BAZNAS.

“We invite the community to come together and support our brothers and sisters in need. Every contribution will be highly valuable to them,” Saidah concluded.
