The performance of zakat institutions has now become visible since the introduction of the impact of zakat measure (KDZ) in 2016. The measurement of KDZ has been started since 2017 and has contributed significantly to the development of zakat management across the nationwide of Indonesia, particularly to investigate the impact of zakat distribution on the improvement of muztahik’s welfare.

An evaluation of the distribution of zakat funds covered in KDZ is BAZNAS Welfare Index (IKB). The IKB Value has a range from 0 to 1. In this regard, the closer to the number 1 is an indication of significant impact contributed by zakat distribution. In 2019, the IKB measurements was conducted in 34

provinces of Indonesia with 7052 respondents of mustahik.

In the recent publication of KDZ, the result is published in two books. The results indicated the better performance of zakat institution in poverty alleviation. This is evident when comparing the 2018-year KDZ that employed the poverty line standard food, with the recent finding of IKB value of 0.64 (Good) has decreased slightly from 0.69 (good).

Further, the recent KDZ has also indicated that one index has increased, while the other two indexes have declined. In this regard, the recent CIBEST welfare index has increased from 0.77 (Good) in 2018 to 0.82 (Very Good) in 2019. The value of the HDI modification has decreased from 0.69 (Good) in 2018 to 0.49 (Good Enough), and the value of independence decreases from 0.69 (Good) to 0.59 (Good Enough) in 2019.

Shortly, from the recent measurement of general poverty indicators in KDZ 2019, it can be concluded that Zakat has been beneficial in reducing the poverty in Indonesia.
